Christmas Comes Early: Canon Rebel T3

Our new Rebel T3, as photographed by our old Powershot ELPH. Is there "lens envy" amongst cameras?

While salivating over the beautiful food porn at some of our favorite blogs, we dreamed of being able to upgrade to a higher quality camera to properly capture the images for this blog. The current camera, a Canon Powershot ELPH, was a birthday gift to Wife and has done it’s job as admirably as can be expected. But sentimental value aside, it had many limitations. Our eyes began to wander and with some help from my bro Pierre we narrowed in on a Canon Rebel T3. Then, almost as if by magic, my friend Toni messaged me to tell me Best Buy had it on sale for almost $150 off. I was helpless in the face of such a deal. I brought this baby home tonight and can’t wait to start putting it to use.

Merry Christmas to us!!

  1. Looks awesome, I’ve got a similar Canon and love it. Now we’ve just gotta get you a copy of Adobe Lightroom to edit those food porn pics with…

    • Yes, I was just talking to Pierre about Lightroom and I am sold on it. I am going to snag it off of Amazon soon. BTW, your interview has been getting a ton of hits. I kept it as a feature on the front page. You need to bump that link one time, son!

      • Forget buying Lightroom. Just download the 30 day trial and set your computer clock back. My 30 day trial turne into a 5 year trial

      • Awe man that is diabolical! Dude you are like a young Mathew Broderick in War Games. However, though in youth I walked with one foot on each side of the line of the law, I have turned over a new leaf, my friend. I will happily pay for anything I use, not to mention I actually need my computer clock to be correct. I will definitely download the trial to play around with, though. See you in a few decades, Mr. Hot Tub Time Machine.

      • Haha I just switch the clock on my computer right before I use Lightroom and then switch it back after. And Kent is lying. His camera is a piece of dookie compared to the t3.

  2. Sweet! You guys should pick up the 50mm f/1.8 lens. Awesome lens for $99. Since this was an early christmas present, maybe that could be your actually present for Christmas day. Have fun!

    • Oooh, this sounds tempting. You guys are going to send me to the poorhouse with all these great rec’s for expensive goodies. I have a vision of myself on a street corner with a sign: Will Blog for Food.

  4. Awesome! My “vintage” Rebel lost its ability to auto focus so I’m in the market. Would love to hear your thoughts on the T3 once you’ve had some time to shoot with it. Also glad to find your blog. I’m looking forward to checking it out!
