Our homie Hakeem was stuck in Australia for over a month on a surprise business trip.  Not sure if he actually got any work done, but he did bring back these kick ass macarons.  Even after the flight from Australia back to the Bay Area these things still had a light, flaky macaron shell with the most delicious, creamy filling in a multitude of interesting flavors like pistachio and cookies ‘n cream.  I don’t even like sweets, but G-Damn if these weren’t the tits!!  Oh one more thing: Salty Caramel macarons?  Sheeeeit.  I’m a sucker for all things salty caramel (like the Bi-Rite Creamery Salted Caramel Ice Cream), but these people really knew how to do it up right.

You can check out these beautiful little treats at Cacao Fine Chocolates and Patisserie.

p.s.: Speaking of Bi-Rite Creamery, check out the picture below, prominently displayed on their “Ice Cream” link.  I know I will go to Hell for this (though that horse was out of the barn long ago), but I’m certain someone must have been playing a cruel joke on the middle kid.  Look at her spoonful of ice cream, blur your eyes a little and tell me someone didn’t deliberately shape that into a penis.  Poor kid.

  1. O to the M to the G! These Macarons were so amazing! They were filled with delicious creams and jams like passion fruit, salted caramel, pistachio, coffee and vanilla bean. The cookie part of the macaron had a light, flaky outer crust, but the inside was moist and chewy. My two favoritea were salted caramel and cookies and creme. After I took a bite out of the cookies and creme I turned to our friends and said, it tastes like Christmas. It did! LOL It reminded me of a sugar cookie with frosting but only better.
